Today the 4th Soita Mummolle Street Action took place and it was a record of people donating their photo: 76 is the number-in-progress, and tomorrow I will receive more photos from the other participants… we are probably well over 100 in one day!
I want to thank all of today’s “models” and our action-photographers Duong, Päivi, Heikki and Annaleena, that joined me at the last moment and boosted up nicely the whole action!
You can see the first part of the pictures from Flickr already now, while the second part will be published probably tomorrow.

I leave you with more good news before the holidays: crochet hearts for the guerrilla campaign are coming from USA, Australia and Netherlands, and I already received at home around 70. By the way, if you would like to donate some crochet heart – especially if you live in Finland – contact me for more info via e-mail at soita.mummolle[at]gmail.com or check
this note on the Facebook Page.

The power of social media!

This week I had two very positive feedbacks about Soita Mummolle and about my choice of experimenting with social media and guerrilla techniques to create the campaign.
First, I posted a call for donating crochet hearts to Soita Mummolle on Ravelry.com, a social network fr crocheters and knitters. Result? Already 4 people contacted me asking for the address and encouraging me for the campaign. People from US, Australia… who still were feeling this issue so near and wanted to give their contribution! These awesome hearts will be used in our guerrilla campaign, they will have even a more special meaning now… totally rad!

Second, I received a batch of supporters pictures holding the Soita Mummolle sign from Jyväskylä: I don’t know any of these persons, so it was a totally energizing surprise to receive their pictures! They printed the SM from Flickr and took photos with it… I couldn’t hope in anything more grassroot-cool than this! By the way, you can see the pictures, taken by Inkery Kautto, on our Flickr’s photostream.
Soita Mummolle FTW!
And now I will be happily offline for Midsummer’s celebrations – in the middle of a finnish forest haunted by mosquitos! Back online on Monday, and I hope to see some new faces next Wednesday, for Soita Mummolle Street Action #4 (go to our Facebook page for the usual details and signing up).

article appeared on voi hyvin
Soita Mummolle campaign got its first article this week and it appeared on Voi Hyvin magazine. (click on the image to have an enlargeable version)

Other highlights of the week? The 3rd Soita Mummolle Street Action took place and 30 new people donated their picture to our cause, but only one person showed up to participate… too bad! Please people, be active and come the the actions: the more people, the more fun and the more pictures we manage to collect.
Who doesn’t come to the Street Actions make grandmas and kittens (like this one, photographed by one of our fans) cry.

THE SURVEY IS FINALLY CLOSE!
The winner of the Stockmann Gift Card will be announced personally via e-mail later today.
324 people replied to the main survey and I want to thank them for their help! It was amazing how far the survey spread on the internet!
I didn’t get a good panel for the “over 60” survey, so for the moment I won’t publish any result: I will try to get more answers by personal interviews.
I will analize more in details the results and publish them on this blog (analyzing patterns according to age and sex, for example), but for now you can check the general results from the survey section on this blog.
Some reflections coming into your mind reading these data? Please, share them with us! 🙂

The second Street Action took place on Wednesday, among some problems: I was sick and I couldn’t participate in person and the weather seemed quite uncertain until the very end. But thanks to the efforts and the energies of Anu, Jussi, Duong and Yan (thank you very much guys!), who volunteered for this Action everything turned out very fine and we got more support pictures as planned!

Since nobody of them took part in a Street Action before, they said that the beginning was a bit hard: they didn’t know how to stop people and they were feeling shy. But as soon they managed to collect the first photos they became bolder and energized, and convinced more and more people to donate their support picture. Quite successful was the idea to propose group pictures, so even the most reluctant people ended up participating. And once that a group took a picture, also other groups of friends c alled our brave guys and asked to be portraited. 🙂
The team was quite “itinerant”, in only one hour they took pictures in Esplanadi, Mannerheimintie, Ruttopuisto and Kamppi. And it was rather international too: 50% Finnish, 50% foreigners! So, not knowing finnish is just a minor problem, if you are foreigner and you want to participate (I am foreigner myself and I never had bad moments).

So, let’s get ready for the next Street Action on 16th June: don’t be shy and don’t find excuses, I can promise you that it’s fun, you meet great people and you’re also doing good! 🙂 So, I hope to see you there!
In the meanwhile you can have a look at the great pictures from the last Action on our Facebook Page.
